<div>I’m reaching out today to ask for your support for my best friend, <strong>Chantel Bales</strong>. Recently, Chantel made a big life change, moving to Missouri for better job opportunities and to be closer to her fiancé Antwone’s family. Shortly after settling in, she received the incredible news that she was expecting another beautiful baby girl. But as her pregnancy progressed, she was met with heartbreaking news—her baby, <strong>Chevi</strong>, was diagnosed with Type 1 Truncus Arteriosus and Pulmonary Atresia, a serious congenital heart defect.

<div>This condition means Chevi’s pulmonary valve, which controls blood flow to the lungs, is blocked, and instead of having two valves, she has only one. She will need multiple surgeries throughout her life just to survive, with the first one scheduled between 3 to 6 weeks after birth.

<div>To protect her pregnancy from further complications, Chantel had to stop working, leaving Antwone as the sole provider for their growing family. As Chevi’s medical journey unfolds, Chantel will likely need to stay home for at least the next year and a half to care for her. Without any financial safety net, this has placed a tremendous strain on them, making it increasingly difficult to keep up with expenses while ensuring Chevi gets the care she desperately needs.
