I now face a long wait for a hearing to appeal for disability and Medicaid coverage, which is critical for my heart transplant.

I am unable to work while awaiting disabilities decision due to an automatic denial. A catch 22 if you will.

<div>My most recent right heart catheterization has shown that, despite being on a high dose of Milrinone and eight other prescription medications, my cardiac output has severely decreased. This means that my heart can no longer pump enough blood to meet the demands of my body. It has also shown that I have elevated filling pressures. Consequently, I have been informed that they need to move forward with treatment (heart transplant). It's extremely difficult for me to do basic things like walking, getting ready or even just sleeping without experiencing shortness of breath, swelling in my legs or just overall discomfort. My quality of life has deteriorated. In order to receive the help I need, I require assistance. I want to live, and it is terrifying to even consider my life coming to an end due to a cruel and indifferent healthcare system.
