<div>Ñuble’s coastal communities, such as Buchupureo, Cobquecura, Rinconada and Pullay, are facing a big threat as various mining companies, backed by international companies and governments, have obtained concessions over large plots of land in the coastal mountain range. These plots of land are owned by people but due to Chile's legislation mining companies have access anyways. Mining companies have a legal advantage and their access to subterrain minerals is protected by the constitution.

<div>These mining projects are extremely lucrative and part of a global race for raw earth minerals, which are essential for the development of micro-chips which are used in AI, military weapons and other tech industries. 
</div>

<div>Chile has a history of destructive mining operations, which has resulted into loss of biodiversity, ecosystems and livelihoods due to the water pollution, water scarcity, and use of heavy machinery. Entire communities have been displaced due to these extractive economies. 
</div>

<div>But luckily as a community we have the opportunity to defend ourselves, protect our livelihoods and the natural environment we inhabit and treasure. Mining companies have to pass an <strong>environmental evaluation</strong> to be able to start extracting. This is an <strong>opportunity</strong> we want to grasp to oppose, but we need resources to dessiminate information, conduct studies, hire legal advisers, and build a strong case against the mining exploitation.

<div>We have the support of the local government and mayor, but we need yours too!

<div>First need to invest in outreach and education. That's why we're looking to raise funds for:

<div>•	Design and printing of informational materials
</div>
<div>•	Production of short documentaries
</div>
<div>•	Basic merchandise (stickers, t-shirts) to help sustain the campaign
</div>
<div>•	Items for local activities (tent, megaphone, photocopies)

<div>Your contribution will help the community-based organization <strong>Cobquecura Sin Mineras</strong> to inform and mobilize Ñuble's coastal communities.

<div>Las comunidades costeras de Ñuble, como Buchupureo, Cobquecura, Rinconada y Pullay, enfrentan una gran amenaza ya que diversas empresas mineras, respaldadas por compañías y gobiernos internacionales, han obtenido concesiones sobre grandes extensiones de tierra en la cordillera de la costa. Estas parcelas son de propiedad privada, pero debido a la legislación chilena, las empresas mineras tienen acceso de todos modos. Las compañías mineras tienen una ventaja legal y su acceso a los minerales subterráneos está protegido por la constitución.

<div>Estos proyectos mineros son extremadamente lucrativos y forman parte de una carrera global por los minerales de tierras raras, los cuales son esenciales para el desarrollo de microchips utilizados en inteligencia artificial, armamento militar y otras industrias tecnológicas.

<div>Chile tiene un historial de operaciones mineras destructivas, lo que ha resultado en la pérdida de biodiversidad, ecosistemas y sustento económico debido a la contaminación y escasez de agua, y al uso de maquinaria pesada. Comunidades enteras han sido desplazadas a causa de estas economías extractivas.

<div>Pero, afortunadamente, como comunidad tenemos la oportunidad de defendernos y proteger nuestros medios de vida y el entorno natural que habitamos y atesoramos. Las empresas mineras deben pasar por una <strong>evaluación ambiental</strong> antes de poder comenzar la extracción. Esta es una <strong>oportunidad</strong> que queremos aprovechar para oponernos, pero necesitamos recursos para difundir información, realizar estudios, contratar asesores legales y construir un caso sólido contra la explotación minera.
