<div>Hello, my name is Bo, and I am my father's only child. I recently graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where I played for the UT Women’s Golf Team. <strong>I am raising funds to help my dad, Ju Ha, who recently suffered a severe stroke</strong>. He is currently receiving care at Medical City Dallas. However, due to limited options—either hospice care or returning to Korea for proper treatment—our family, following his doctors’ recommendation, has decided that bringing him back to Korea is the best path forward.

<div>On July 13th, my dad suffered a major stroke that has changed his life completely.
</div>
<div>The stroke left him <strong>paralyzed on his left side</strong> and caused <strong>aphasia</strong>, meaning he can’t speak and is unable to swallow. As a result, he has developed <strong>aspiration pneumonia three separate times</strong>. He also underwent a G-tube procedure so he can receive nutrition directly through his stomach. This means that he will<strong> require tube feeding for the rest of his life.</strong>

<div>Recently, his pneumonia worsened to the point that he was transferred back to the ICU and required a very high level of oxygen support. At one point, doctors even recommended hospice care. But by the grace of God, he stabilized. He no longer requires oxygen, and we’ve decided it’s safest to fly him back to Korea for the specialized, long-term care and family support he desperately needs.

<div>Due to the severity of his condition, a regular economy seat is not safe for travel. He cannot sit upright on his own, requires constant monitoring by a <strong>medical professional</strong>, and needs specialized equipment during the flight.

<div>I just graduated from college, and right now, I’m the only family member in the U.S. trying to navigate this medical crisis on my own. We never had much growing up, and nothing about my journey was handed to me. It wasn’t wealth or privilege that brought me here; it was my golf game, built through years of hard work, sacrifice, and my dad’s belief in me.

<div>I still remember one night as a kid when I saw my dad quietly crying. At the time, I didn’t understand why. I had just asked for something small, and he said no. He didn’t get angry or frustrated. He just turned away, and I caught him wiping his tears. Back then, I thought it was about the thing I couldn’t have. But now, I understand those tears had nothing to do with me asking. It had everything to do with his wishing he could give me more. He was heartbroken that he couldn’t provide a more comfortable life. <strong>But to me, no material thing could ever mean more than having a father who gave me everything he could, and</strong> <strong>never spent a single penny on himself.</strong>

<div>Now, he needs me, and I’m doing everything I can, but the financial burden is simply too heavy to carry alone.

<div>최근 폐렴이 악화되어 중환자실로 다시 옮겨졌고, 고농도의 산소 공급이 필요할 만큼 위중한 상태였습니다. 한때 의사들은 호스피스를 권유하기도 했지만 하나님의 은혜로 아버지의 상태는 조금씩 호전되어 산소 치료 없이도 버틸 수 있는 상태가 되셨습니다. 저희는 지금이야말로 아버지를 한국으로 모셔, 장기 치료와 가족의 보살핌을 받으시는데 최선이라고 생각했습니다.

<div>어릴 적 어느 날 밤, 아버지께서 조용히 우시는 모습을 본 기억이 아직도 생생합니다. 그땐 왜 그러셨는지 몰랐어요. 제가 작은 선물을 사달라고 졸랐지만 아버지는 안 된다고 하셨죠. 화를 내시거나 짜증을 내신 것도 아니었어요. 그냥 조용히 돌아서시더니, 눈물을 닦고 계셨어요. 그땐 그게 단지 제가 원하는 걸 못 가져서 슬픈 줄 알았어요. 하지만 이제는 그 눈물이 제 부탁 때문이 아니라, 더 많은 걸 해주지 못해 가슴 아파서 흘리신 눈물이었다는 걸 알게 됐습니다. 아버지는 늘 더 편한 삶을 주지 못한 걸 미안해하셨지만, <strong>저에게는 그 어떤 물질보다도 자신을 위해선 단 한 푼도 쓰지 않고, 저를 위해 모든 걸 내어주신 그런 아버지가 있다는 사실이 가장 큰 축복이라고 생각합니다.</strong>
