<div>The number one issue still facing the world's oceans is illegal fishing. Despite developments in technology, IUU fishing has not declined enough over the last 20 years, accounting for $10-20 billion of annual losses.

<div>Over the same time many marine protected areas have been created. But there is a large variation in levels of MPA effectiveness, leading to so-called 'Paper Parks' with hardly any protection at all.

<div>By using the most effective documentary, monitoring, surveillance, and enforcement tools, Tahi Opu aims to increase levels of protection across all areas of the ocean.
