Friends, family, and all who know and love Laurie,

Life can change in a single moment, and our family is now living through one of those moments. Recently, our beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend Laurie received an unexpected and devastating diagnosis of advanced cancer. What we believed to be a treatable issue has revealed itself to be an aggressive illness that has spread far beyond what anyone imagined. The news has come with heartbreaking speed. Doctors have shared that Laurie’s time may be limited, and the next few weeks are critical as urgent treatments begin. Radiation, potentially chemotherapy, specialist appointments, and ongoing testing are all happening at once. Laurie is fighting with incredible strength, but this journey is already moving far too quickly.

Laurie and her husband Kent have always been the first to show up for others. They are humble, hardworking people who never imagined they would ever need to ask their community for support. But this diagnosis has turned their world upside down. Because of Laurie’s condition, she is unable to work, and Kent has had to take early retirement to become her full-time caregiver. Their income has suddenly stopped at the exact moment when medical bills, travel expenses, and everyday costs are rapidly rising.

Your support—no matter the size—will help ease the financial burden of immediate cancer treatments and medications, frequent specialist visits and travel for care, daily living expenses with no occupational income, previous medical bills accumulated before the diagnosis, and a short, meaningful trip to the ocean while Laurie is still able to travel. This trip is not a luxury. It is Laurie’s heart’s wish to spend a few peaceful days with her husband—breathing ocean air, creating memories, and experiencing beauty while she still can. Time is precious, and these moments matter deeply.

We will keep everyone updated as we learn more. We remain hopeful, focusing on love, connection, and the gift of time together. Laurie means so much to so many, and the care and kindness already shown have touched our entire family more than words can say.

If you are able to donate, please know that every contribution—large or small—makes a meaningful difference. If a financial gift isn’t possible, sharing this campaign and keeping Laurie in your thoughts and prayers is equally appreciated. Thank you for standing with Laurie, supporting her fight, and surrounding her with the love and strength of this incredible community. She has spent her life caring for others. Now, it is our turn to care for her.
