<div>Carlos Montoya was a 52-year-old day laborer from Guatemala – a father, a friend, a man who worked hard every day to provide for his family. On August 14, his life was tragically cut short when he was struck by a vehicle on the 210 Freeway near the Home Depot in Monrovia, California.

<div>Carlos was fleeing an unannounced immigration raid – one of many recent violent operations targeting immigrant workers at Home Depots and other day laborer gathering sites across Southern California. These aggressive raids have been terrorizing immigrant workers, turning ordinary workdays into scenes of fear, chaos, and violence. Carlos wasn’t a criminal – he was a man looking for work to provide for his loved ones.
