<div><strong>I am preparing to have back surgery due to complications with both Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis.</strong> I have been off work since June 2, 2025, seeking less invasive treatments to avoid surgery to no avail. I am unable to perform my normal job as it requires extensive standing, walking, and sitting up, which causes excruciating pain. I have exhausted my annual leave and sick leave, so I am in a leave without pay status right now. <strong>I am requesting assistance with essentials like rent, utilities, food, and medications, as I no longer have my regular income to rely upon.</strong> I have applied for SSI Disability Benefits, but the process is long and tedious, and Texas has no short-term disability benefits because we have no state tax.
