<div>Die anti-rassistische Kita Kwetu in Berlin-Neukölln ist eine von nur fünf ihrer Art. Seit mehr als 20 Jahren leistet sie anti-rassistische Bildungsarbeit und bietet Schwarzen und BIPOC Familien – also Familien aus der global majority - einen safe space, an dem Vielfalt, Empowerment und Gemeinschaft gelebt werden. Jetzt droht der Kita die Schließung wegen finanzieller Probleme. Wir als Eltern wollen das verhindern, dafür benötigen wir eure Unterstützung!

<div>Anfang der 2.000er haben Mütter schwarzer Kinder Kwetu gegründet, weil sie zuvor beobachten mussten, wie ihre Kinder in verschiedenen Kitas Berlins Rassismus- und Diskriminierungserfahrungen machten. Seitdem ist Kwetu nicht nur für uns, sondern bereits für über 100 Familien zu einem safe space geworden. Als Eltern-Initiative finden hier Schwarze, BIPOC und queere Familien eine offene Gemeinschaft, die von Verständnis und Akzeptanz geprägt ist. Hier entwickeln die Kinder mit Stolz ihre Identität und haben Vorbilder, mit denen sie sich identifizieren können.

<div>Aber wie viele Berliner Kitas liegen auch wir derzeit weit unter der maximal möglichen Zahl an Betreuungsverträgen, die wir benötigen, um die laufenden Kosten zu decken.

<div>Mit den Kitagutscheinen der verbleibenden Familien können wir bereits Ende des Monats unsere Kosten nicht mehr decken. Wir benötigen 15.000 € um die Kita wenigstens bis Ende des Jahres offen zu halten, d.h. 5.000 € pro Monat. JEDE Spende hilft! 10 € decken die täglichen Essenskosten für ein Kitakind. 50 € finanzieren einen Tag unserer Miete. Mit 400 € können wir einen Arbeitstag unseres Teams bezahlen. Derzeit sind wir in Gesprächen mit vielen interessierten Familien und haben noch Plätze für weitere, um uns ab nächstem Jahr finanziell wieder selbst zu tragen. Zur langfristigen Sicherung der Kita bewerben wir uns um weitere Förderungen und sind im Austausch mit potentiellen Trägern.

<div>Kwetu is an anti-racist kindergarten in Berlin-Neukölln, one of only five of its kind. For over 20 years, it has provided anti-racist educational work, as well as a safe space for Black, BIPOC, and families from the global majority. It’s a place where diversity, empowerment, and community thrive. Now the kindergarten is threatened with closure due to financial problems. As parents, we want to prevent this; we need your support!

<div>In the early 2000s, mothers of Black children founded Kwetu because they had previously witnessed their children experiencing racism and discrimination in various kindergartens in Berlin. Since then, Kwetu has become a safe space not only for us but for over 100 families. As a parent-led initiative, Black and BIPOC families from the global majority, along with queer families, find a community rooted in understanding and acceptance. Here, the children proudly develop their identities and have role models with whom they can identify.

<div>But like many Berlin kindergartens, we are currently far below the maximum number of childcare contracts we need to cover our running costs.

<div>With the kindergarten vouchers from the remaining families, we will no longer be able to cover our full costs by the end of the month. We need €15,000 to keep the kindergarten open at least until the end of the year, i.e. €5,000 per month. EVERY donation helps! €10 covers the daily food costs for a kindergarten child. €50 covers one day of our rent. €400 pays for one day of our team's work. We are currently in discussion with many interested families and still have open places to become financially self-sufficient again starting next year. To secure the kindergarten’s long-term viability, we are applying for further funding and are in contact with potential "Träger".
