<div>Just before Thanksgiving 2022, a group of people, purporting to act as Camille’s guardians, shielded Camille from her family and deprived her of assets my grandmother intended for her. They then dumped her in a house with very few provisions. Horrified, I immediately started the process to become her legal guardian, which I was awarded in March 2023. But soon after, I discovered something heartbreaking: someone we trusted—family—had allegedly diverted funds meant for Camille shortly after my grandmother was showing signs of dementia. Funds that my beloved grandmother worked until she was 92 to save.

<div>As if losing her financial security and home weren't enough, in late 2024, Camille was diagnosed with ocular melanoma—a rare and aggressive eye cancer. Despite her incredible bravery through treatment, she's now blind in one eye and faces anxious three-month scans to monitor for spread.

<div>Instead of recovering in the comfort of familiar surroundings, watching her favorite shows, and working on the math problems that bring her joy, Camille now lives with the constant fear of homelessness hanging over her head.

<div><strong>The Legal Battle Ahead</strong>

<div>I never imagined having to create this fundraiser. After securing guardianship and uncovering the extent of what happened, I've already exhausted much of my own savings fighting for Camille's rights. My attorneys believe we have a strong case to recover her assets, but they have been transparent about the high cost of pursuing this through to trial.
