I like to say that the world comes to us for lunch, and I don’t think that’s an overstatement. The combination of food and community have transformative healing power.

<div>Recent events in Minnesota have prevented some of Shobi’s Table’s immigrant guests to come for lunch or even go to work. <em>These are people who have a greater faith in America than many of us do at this moment. </em>

<div>Last weekend one of these friends, someone who has dedicated her life to helping others, shared with me that she is among those likely to fall behind in rent in March. I told her I would try to find some support for her and for several other families she knows who are in the same situation.
