<div>My name is Yasmin, and I’m heartbroken to share that my little brother, Alejandro Álvarez, was taken from us far too soon. He was just 19 years old, full of talent, dreams, and life. Alejandro was a gifted musician who could play almost any instrument and was writing and rapping his own music. He was just about to graduate high school a huge milestone he worked so hard for.

<div><strong>On May 14th, 2025</strong>, Alejandro was the victim of a horrific hit-and-run in the DDs parking lot on Southwest Street in San Jose. The driver intentionally ran him over and fled the scene. A criminal case has been filed, but nothing can bring my brother back.

</div>
<div>Alejandro was part of foster care program as a teen but I went through the process and became his legal guardian. I’ve always tried to protect him and support him, but now I’m facing the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do bury my baby brother.
</div>

<div>Our family is struggling deeply, both emotionally and financially. My mother is in very bad shape from grief, and I’ve had to take on all the paperwork and funeral planning while also trying to process my own pain.

<div>Mi nombre es Yasmin, y con el corazón destrozado comparto que mi hermanito, Alejandro Álvarez, nos fue arrebatado demasiado pronto. Tenía solo 19 años, lleno de talento, sueños y vida. Alejandro era un músico muy talentoso que podía tocar casi cualquier instrumento, además de escribir y rapear su propia música. Estaba a punto de graduarse de la preparatoria, un gran logro por el que había trabajado muchísimo.

<div><strong>El 14 de mayo de 2025</strong>, Alejandro fue víctima de un trágico atropello con fuga en el estacionamiento de DD’s en Southwest Street, en San José. El conductor lo atropelló intencionalmente y huyó de la escena. Ya se presentó un caso criminal, pero nada podrá devolvernos a mi hermano.

<div>Alejandro fue parte del programa de cuidado temporal cuando era adolescente, pero yo pasé por todo el proceso para convertirme en su tutora legal. Siempre traté de protegerlo y apoyarlo, pero ahora enfrento lo más difícil que he tenido que hacer: enterrar a mi hermanito.

<div>Nuestra familia está profundamente afectada, tanto emocional como económicamente. Mi mamá está devastada por el dolor, y yo he tenido que encargarme de todo el papeleo y la organización del funeral mientras intento sobrellevar mi propio duelo.
