<div>On October 30, 2025, while LaRessa and I were sitting in an Austin ISD board meeting, a fire destroyed my home. By the time I arrived, everything was gone. I’m heartbroken to share that all three of our cats—Chat, Oliver, and Santi—died in the fire (two were LaRessa’s and one was mine). I am immensely grateful that my husky, Lyra, survived.

<div>I have nothing left beyond the clothes and shoes I was wearing. My wife, LaRessa, was visiting and also lost many of her belongings. My entire home library of 1,000+ books and irreplaceable family artifacts were lost.

<div>Thankfully, we do have a temporary place to stay (LaRessa’s apartment) while we figure out the next steps. We were not financially prepared for devastation on this scale, and we're asking for help—any amount—as we work to stabilize and rebuild.
