<div>On this past Tuesday (June 3rd), my 65-year-old mom fell while walking her dog and suffered a serious wrist fracture. After a trip to the ER and follow-up imaging, we learned that she will need surgery (open reduction internal fixation) to stabilize her right wrist. Her surgery is scheduled for Monday (June 9th).

<div>My mom has always been someone who gives selflessly to others. She still stays active in her community by working as a substitute teacher and helping those around her however she can. Like many people her age, she’s navigating the challenges of healthcare and limited income without the cushion of a full retirement plan. Unfortunately, this injury and the surgery it requires will come with medical expenses that are difficult to manage on her own.

<div>While we don’t yet know the full cost of her surgery, out-of-pocket expenses for procedures like this (even with insurance) can easily reach $7,000 or more - including the operation, follow-ups, imaging, and medications. This doesn’t even include lost income while she recovers. <strong>We’re hoping to raise $7,500 to help ease this unexpected financial blow.</strong>
