<div>A few nights ago, I got up due to a cramp and passed out while walking back to my bedroom. I fell face-first into the baseboard, causing two skull fractures and bleeding in my brain. My entire face—from the jaw up—is shattered. This includes the eye sockets, nasal bones, and sinus cavities. Surgeons will need to reconstruct it all with metal plates.

<div>Surgery is scheduled for Thursday, and I’ll need a tracheostomy to breathe, a PEG tube to eat, and my jaw will be wired shut for at least two months. Doctors are still running tests to figure out what caused me to lose consciousness in the first place.
