The second wave of COVID-19 cases are skyrocketing in Nepal with daily infection of 9000-10,000 cases being reported everyday. The situation is touted to be worse than India as the number of deaths and infection rapidly climb everyday and Nepal is probably in the brink of a massive crisis with one of the poorest infrastructure and health system to be hit by the second wave of Covid-19. With 0.7 physicians per 100,000 people, bed shortages and limited ICU facilities the situation is catastrophic and needless to say, we will be seeing unprecedented number of deaths due to lack of medical facilities and support in the coming days. The devastating surge in coronavirus infections has exposed Nepal's dilapidated health infrastructure and a chronic shortage of oxygen – a key treatment for seriously ill COVID-19 patients.
