<div>On 10th August, the island of São Vicente in Cape Verde was hit by torrential rains that turned the streets into rivers of destruction.

<div>Twelve lives were lost, hundreds of families were left homeless, and entire neighbourhoods were reduced to rubble.
</div>
<div>The heart of the island is wounded, but keeps beating, and needs your help.

<div>Among the most affected is the family of one of our selectas, who lives in Ribeira Bote, a historic neighbourhood of Mindel, where the Mindel Reggae Family has held four major Sound System events over the past four years.

<div>His father’s house was completely destroyed.
</div>
<div>Next door, a neighbour lost her child.
</div>

<div>The pain and loss are profound, but the strength to start again is greater than anything.
