<div>One year ago our dear friend Michelynn was diagnosed with stage 4 CRC (Colorectal cancer).

<div>Due to her being stage 4 and chemo not working, she will be needing additional surveillance as she at a higher risk for recurrence. Determining that she has a recurrence sooner than later will be the difference between being curable vs incurable (so intense surveillance is very important, especially in this first year).

<div>Through a company called Lifelabs she can access ctDNA testing which is regularly used at the major US centres. However, this testing is not yet covered in Canada. 
</div>

<div>This test and molecular profiling will also provide information that would otherwise be unavailable. In the scenario of needing future treatments (surgery, chemo, ablation, etc)

<div>Finding out the additional genetic information of my tumour will also give Michelynn more insight into why the chemo she was on (Folfox), which has a success rate of 70%, did not work for her. It will also give her family the necessary info should a genetic mutation be discovered; their daughters could also be screened to determine if they are carriers. This is of the utmost important to her.
