<div>Gawler is facing a significant challenge with higher-than-average rates of mental health conditions across all age groups. Yet, the current levels of private and public services are insufficient to meet the needs of the 90,000 people accessing care in the region. To help meet the needs of our region, we are taking a step forward by working to transforming the Convent at 6 Porter Street into a dedicated mental health hub.

<div>Once complete, the centre will feature eight consulting rooms and a meeting space, creating a welcoming and cohesive environment for mental health services. This hub will bring together a diverse range of professionals, ensuring multidisciplinary care delivered under one roof. By consolidating these services, the new facility will not only improve accessibility but also alleviate the stress and confusion often faced by individuals, families, and carers when navigating fragmented care systems.

<div>This initiative embodies a trauma-informed approach, providing care that is sensitive to the unique needs and experiences of every individual. It’s a significant step that will strengthen mental health support in Gawler, fostering hope and resilience for a healthier community.

<div>To complete this goal, the building requires extensive repairs and we are committed to repairing and restoring it to its initial beauty.

<div>This undertaking has so far been solely funded by my husband and I, with both State and Federal Governments declining to assist. We  continue to pour everything we can into the project but to make things happen faster we could use your help.
