<div>I sat at my favorite café with my family the other day. A cousin of ours passed by to say hello and a simple conversation brought me to tears.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My aunt’s cousin, a kind woman I’ve seen many times before, walked in. She’s Matilde’s grandmother. When my aunt asked how Matilde was doing, she shared heartbreaking word that made us fall silent. I couldn’t stop thinking of the unimaginable pain behind them.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>When I was younger, I’d heard about a little girl in the family with “butterfly skin.” They call it that because her skin is as delicate as a butterfly’s wings—so fragile that even the lightest touch can cause blisters, wounds, and unimaginable pain. I didn't know then that she was a cousin of ours.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Her condition is called Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB)—a rare, genetic disorder that causes the skin to break and blister at the slightest friction or pressure. Children with EB often live in constant pain. Every step, every hug, even a simple shower can be agonizing. There is no cure. Just bandages, treatments, and constant care.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>When I met her I could soon see she is so much more than her disease. She’s beautiful and full of spirit. But EB is stealing her childhood—and until recently I realized it's stealing her hope.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Her mother, my cousin, is the strongest woman I know. She gives everything to care for Matilde and her younger son. She smiles through the pain, even though every day is a battle.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As a mother of three boys, I can’t begin to imagine what it feels like to watch your child live in daily agony… or hear your child say they want to give up.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I’m fundraising to help this family—for urgent medical supplies, specialized bandages, treatments, and hopefully a bit of relief.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We all hear stories of people facing unimaginable struggles. And often, after a moment of sadness, we move on with our day.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But this... I can’t move past.
</div>
<div>Because I know this little girl. I know her family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Her pain isn’t just a distant tragedy—it’s something real, something close. And instead of sitting here with a heavy heart, I want to do something. Even if it’s small.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We can’t change her diagnosis. But together, we can help ease her suffering—and show her she’s not alone. With a little support from you, I believe we can make a real difference.
</div>

</div>
<div>What is Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB)?
</div>
<div>EB is a rare and painful genetic condition affecting the skin and mucous membranes. Children born with EB are sometimes called “butterfly children” because their skin is as fragile as a butterfly’s wings.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Even slight friction or pressure can cause open wounds and blisters.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Daily care requires hours of bandaging, pain management, and special clothing and bedding.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>There is no cure—only supportive care.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>EB affects 1 in 20,000 births and is considered a "rare disease".
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please help us fight for Matilde’s comfort, dignity, and hope.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>❤️ With deep gratitude

</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Mas esta… eu não consigo ignorar.
</div>
<div>Porque conheço esta menina. Conheço a família dela.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>O que é a Epidermólise Bolhosa (EB)?
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Não existe cura — apenas cuidados de suporte.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>❤️ Com profunda gratidão
