<div>My sister, Tiffany Akins, was rushed to the hospital a couple of weeks ago with a severe migraine that left her in unbearable pain. A CT scan showed what doctors thought was a brain tumor. For nearly 24 hours, Tiffany believed she had a tumor and was facing surgery. After more testing, they discovered it wasn’t a tumor at all, but something called a pseudo tumor—a condition that mimics all the symptoms of a brain tumor without one actually being there.

<div>To relieve the pressure, they had to do a spinal tap, which thankfully gave her almost instant relief. She was put on several medications and told to follow up with her primary doctor and a neurologist. At her follow-up, her doctor gave her a new medication but also told her something heartbreaking—this condition isn’t going away, and she will likely be on medication for the rest of her life.
