<div>I am an autistic transgender woman who lost my job as a federal contractor during the October 2025 government shutdown. After more than eight months of unemployment, I was finally able to secure a new job starting on July 26, 2026.

<div>Unfortunately, the months without income have left me thousands of dollars in debt. I have overdue credit card bills, back rent, and I'm struggling to afford essential medications, including my HRT and medication for Type 2 diabetes. While I am incredibly grateful to be working again, nearly all of my income will be going toward rent and paying down overdue bills so I can keep a roof over my head and avoid legal action from debt collectors.
