<div><strong>I have been fundraising through GoFundMe since February 2025. Over that time, I've realized this is not a short-term situation. Because I will most likely be on dialysis for years while I wait for a kidney transplant, I've increased my fundraising goal to $100,000. I know that number may seem large, but it reflects the long-term reality of living with end-stage kidney disease. Rather than raising the goal every few months, I wanted it to represent the ongoing nature of this journey and the financial challenges that come with it.</strong>

<div><strong>Every dollar I receive is used right away for monthly necessities. These funds are not extra—they help pay for rent, utilities, groceries, transportation, medical-related expenses, and other basic living costs while I continue dialysis and do everything I can to remain independent.</strong>

<div><strong>I continue to work when I'm able, but chronic illness affects far more than just my health. It impacts my energy, my income, my ability to plan ahead, and my ability to keep up with everyday expenses. Dialysis is life-sustaining, but it also makes financial stability an ongoing challenge.</strong>

<div>In March 2023, I was diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease — and every day since has been a battle for my life, my family, and our future.

<div>There were moments I didn’t know how I’d survive: a stroke, job loss, financial collapse, and the daily grind of dialysis. But thanks to the incredible generosity of friends, family, and strangers, I’ve made it through the darkest days. Over $17,000 was raised to help keep us afloat — and I am endlessly grateful to every single person who shared, donated, or simply offered a kind word.

<div>Today, I’m grateful to say I’m no longer in desperate need of emergency funds. I recently started a part-time job that, for now, helps cover our basic living expenses — including rent. It’s a lifeline, and as long as I can keep working, we’re holding steady.

<div>Why I’m Still Fundraising: A Recovery Fund for What Comes Next

<div>Emergency cushion – In the event that Medicaid is ever disrupted or unexpected costs arise, this fund ensures I don’t fall back into crisis during such a fragile time.

<div>While things have stabilized, life with a chronic illness is still unpredictable. This fundraiser gives me the breathing room I need to recover safely when the transplant comes — without the added fear of financial collapse.
