My friend Allison Butt affectionately called Allie or Rose was recently diagnosed with a rare eye condition called Keratoconus which is a condition where the persons cornea starts to become cone shaped instead of smooth and rounded like everyone else's. Unfortunately, the damage this condition does cannot be reversed but there is a procedure called CXL or cross linking that can help strengthen and stop the progression of this disorder.

<div>Unfortunately, in Newfoundland, Canada this is not covered under our provincial insurance and with the current economic state the cost of this procedure is just not feasible for her.

<div>The surgery cost is $2,200 for a single eye and provides smoothing of the cornea and a strengthening drop hardened by UV light to help the cornea.
