<div>My mom, Karen, has bravely been battling cancer this year. Between chemotherapy, radiation, and countless doctor's appointments, she's been unable to work - and recently she was informed that her employer-provided health insurance has ended.

<div>Karen won't be able to return to work until after a major surgery and months of recovery, which could take up to six more months. To keep her insurance through COBRA, she now needs to pay $1,000 per month out-of-pocket. Unfortunately, her short-term-disability income doesn't come close to covering this, let alone basic living costs or transportation to and from medical appointments.

<div>Health coverage is absolutely essential right now - for lung scans, PET scans, surgery, lab work, and follow-up care that gives her the best chance of beating this cancer. She is too young to qualify for Medicare, and COBRA is her only option.

<div>Anyone who knows Karen knows how generous she's always been - offering help, sharing meals, and opening her door to friends in need. Now, she's the one who needs a little help.
