<div>Our son, Phoenix Danielson, was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL) on June 13, 2025, and our world changed overnight.

<div>It started with back pain that Phoenix believed came from a fall during Easter. As the 2024 River Valley High School Varsity Cross Country MVP, he was in peak shape, so we assumed it was a muscle strain. Urgent Care and his primary doctor thought the same, and we were waiting for a physical therapy appointment.

<div>But things took a sudden turn.

<div>On June 12, Phoenix called me in extreme pain, unable to get out of bed. I rushed him to the ER at Rideout. Bloodwork revealed abnormally high blast cells in his bloodstream—an early indicator of leukemia. Doctors immediately coordinated with UC Davis Pediatric Oncology, where he was transferred and officially diagnosed with B-ALL Leukemia.

<div>The treatment will take 2.5 years, starting with an intensive first year of chemotherapy. Tragically, Phoenix will have to give up his senior year of high school cross country—a sport he dedicated himself to and excelled in. This isn’t just a medical battle. It’s an emotional and financial one too.

<div>The good news is that this type of leukemia has a 90% cure rate, giving us hope and strength to face the road ahead.
</div>

<div>But the unexpected medical costs—hospital stays, treatments, travel, time away from work—have placed an enormous burden on our family. We are doing everything we can, but we need help.
