<div>A year ago, I created this fundraiser hoping my mom’s health would improve. Unfortunately, her condition has continued to decline, and today she is no longer able to walk or care for herself. I’m updating this fundraiser to reflect her current needs and asking for help during an incredibly difficult time.

<div>My mom came here from El Salvador on a visa with hopes of building a better life. She never learned English and spent most of her life working jobs that offered no retirement or benefits. For years up until recently, she also made and sold homemade pupusas from her kitchen to pay the bills. She worked long hours, got very little rest, and did whatever she could to survive.

<div>She has the biggest heart of anyone I know and would help anyone in need. Unfortunately, after a lifetime of hard work, her body has given out.

<div>Today, she is living with chronic heart failure, kidney disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, lymphedema, severe arthritis in both knees, chronic back problems, and nerve pain that runs down her legs. She is in constant pain and can no longer walk. She now needs help with all daily activities and requires equipment and home modifications to stay safe.

<div>As her only child, I am doing everything I can, but I can’t do it alone. The funds raised will help cover overdue rent, monthly living expenses, medical equipment, a wheelchair ramp, an adjustable remote control bed, converting her bathtub into a walk-in shower, and other necessities that will improve her quality of life and help her remain safe and more comfortable at home.

<div>Hoy vive con insuficiencia cardíaca crónica, enfermedad renal, diabetes, presión arterial alta, linfedema, artritis severa en ambas rodillas, problemas crónicos en la espalda y dolor en los nervios que baja por sus piernas. Vive con dolor constante y ya no puede caminar. Ahora necesita ayuda para todas sus actividades diarias y requiere equipo médico y modificaciones en su hogar para mantenerse segura.

<div>Como su única hija, estoy haciendo todo lo que puedo, pero no puedo hacerlo sola. Los fondos recaudados ayudarán a cubrir renta atrasada, gastos mensuales básicos, equipo médico, una rampa para silla de ruedas, una cama ajustable con control remoto, la conversión de su bañera a una ducha accesible y otras necesidades que mejorarán su calidad de vida y le permitirán permanecer más segura y cómoda en su hogar durante estos momentos tan difíciles.
