<div>Bonjour, je m’appelle Yacine Eldjidel et j’organise cette collecte de fonds au nom de notre famille en deuil, suite à la perte soudaine et bouleversante de ma mère, Marnelle Joseph, décédée le dimanche 20 juillet à l’hôpital Santa Cabrini.

<div>Ma mère avait un cœur immense et un esprit généreux. Elle pensait toujours aux autres avant elle-même. C’était le genre de personne qui souriait malgré la douleur et qui vous disait qu’elle allait “bien”, même quand ce n’était pas le cas. C’est comme ça que je me souviens d’elle : douce, aimante et forte. Ces dernières années, elle a dû faire face à plusieurs problèmes de santé, dont beaucoup qu’elle gardait pour elle. En 2023, elle a survécu à un AVC qui s’est produit alors qu’elle était dans un autobus. Par chance, elle s’en est remise, mais nous avons plus tard appris qu’elle souffrait aussi en silence de problèmes de thyroïde. Elle en parlait très peu, et aucun de nous ne savait à quel point c’était sérieux. Sa mort a été un véritable choc, d’autant plus que je l’avais vue une semaine avant son décès.

<div>Ce moment est particulièrement difficile pour moi, car je n’ai pas eu l’occasion de lui dire un vrai au revoir. L’annonce soudaine de son départ a bouleversé nos vies. Elle laisse derrière elle ses trois enfants, âgés de 17 à 26 ans, ainsi que ses frères et sa sœur. En écrivant ces lignes, nous essayons tous de comprendre et d’accepter cette perte inimaginable. La vie sans elle semble être un défi en soi, mais nous faisons de notre mieux pour rester forts — car au fond, je sais que c’est ce qu’elle aurait voulu.

<div>Malheureusement, en raison de la nature inattendue de son décès, aucune disposition préalable n’avait été prise pour couvrir les frais funéraires et les services commémoratifs. Je suis actuellement aux études, donc mon budget est très limité, tout comme celui de ma famille. Pourtant, je souhaite de tout cœur lui rendre hommage de la manière la plus digne possible. C’est pourquoi je me tourne vers vous aujourd’hui — une démarche que ma mère aurait rarement faite, mais que nous devons faire maintenant pour lui offrir l’adieu qu’elle mérite.

<div>Hello, my name is Yacine Eldjidel, and I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of our grieving family following the sudden and heartbreaking loss of my mother, Marnelle Joseph, who passed away on Sunday, July 20th, at Santa Cabrini Hospital.

<div>My mom had a truly kind and generous spirit, always putting others before herself. She was the kind of person who would smile through the pain and tell you she was “alright” even when she wasn’t. That’s how I remember her: gentle, loving, and strong. In recent years, she faced many health battles, most of which she kept to herself. In 2023, she survived a stroke that occurred while she was on a bus. By chance, she recovered, but later we learned that she had been quietly struggling with thyroid problems as well. She rarely spoke about her condition, and none of us knew just how serious it was. Her passing came as a devastating shock, especially since I had seen her just one week before it happened.

<div>This moment is particularly hard for me because I never had the chance to say a proper goodbye. The suddenness of this news has profoundly affected all our lives. She leaves behind her three children, aged 17 to 26, as well as her brothers and sister. As I write this, we are all trying to come to terms with this unimaginable loss. Life without her feels like a challenge in itself, but we are doing our best to stay strong because I know that deep down, that is what she would have wanted us to do.

<div>Sadly, due to the unexpected nature of her passing, there were no prior arrangements made to cover her funeral costs and memorial services. I am currently in school, so my budget is quite limited, as is the budget of my family. However, I really want to honour her memory in the best way possible. That is why I am asking for help here today - something my mom rarely did, but something we now deeply need to ensure she receives the dignified farewell she deserves.
