<div>Liebe Leser und Leserinnen,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>

<div><br />
</div>
<div>Dear Readers,
</div>
<div>in a world full of negative news, I would like to report something very positive.
</div>
<div>I am Ceylan and my hometown is Bremerhaven in Germany. My big sister Meike and her husband Javier Oscar have been helping local communities in some districts of Lima for almost 4 years. They supply them with fresh foods and donations of all kinds. I am starting this appeal for donations hoping that more people will get to know and help people in need in Lima.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>For some people, life was hard enough even before the Corona Pandemic, but now their circumstances of living have become even more precarious. Absolute poverty prevails among the population in some regions. They lack the basic necessities like food supplies, clean water and education. Welfare from the state is almost unheard of. The district of Villa Maria del Triunfo in the capital of Lima is severely affected by extreme poverty.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Javier Oscar is Peruvian/ British. For over 40 years he practised medicine in the United Kingdom and ever since his retirement he and his wive live most of the year in Lima. This was also the case when a complete lockdown of the country took them by surprise. The quarantine was prolonged over and over again and the hunger and suffering among the poorest population grew. The promised relief supplies never arrived. Big words were spoken on TV, but concrete action was not taken at all. “Let’s show them how it is done…”, they both thought. Contrary to the challenging circumstances Oscar and Meike stayed focused and started to buy tons of food from wholesalers like potatoes, pulses, rice, sweet potatoes, carrots, onions, milk and eggs and donated them to the forgotten and hardest hit communities. The Humanitarian Help, which started during the pandemic, now has developed into an aid network.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>So far, they have donated 220 tons of fresh foods and 80 tons of clothes, shoes, blankets, books, building materials, mattresses, cookers, fruit trees, wheelchairs , etc...</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The monthly minimal income amounts to 1025.00 Soles, converted to 250.00 € or around 8.30 € daily, just hardly enough to provide for the bare necessities for a family. Oscar and Meike would like to point out that they do this without any political, religious or financial interests. It is only done out of “Amor al Projimo“, Love of Humanity, especially for children, elderly and vulnerable adults. They work together with the dwellers which took the initiative on their own account within several communities - Helping people to help themselves. All together they are helping 54 „Ollas comúnes“ - Communal kitchens.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you so much to all our helpers and interested parties! Your financial contribution would make a significant difference and will help Oscar and Meike not only into sharing foods, but rather to build hope and trust within the communities. We would be very grateful if you could share this Social Humanitarian Experience post with relatives and friends, so it could reach more people.
