 <strong>Help Us Keep Utila’s Shores Clean — and Keep Ocean Waste Out of the Ocean</strong>
</div>
<div>
 <strong>Every day, garbage washes up on the shores of Utila, Honduras. Much of it comes from the sea, carried by currents and tides from places far beyond our island.</strong>
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Utila Island Cleanups is a grassroots, volunteer-powered organization dedicated to permanently removing this garbage from our shores and ensuring it doesn’t find its way back into the ocean.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Our work doesn’t end when the trash is picked up from the beach.
</div>
<div>
 We go the extra mile to make sure it is collected, stored, transported off the island, and properly processed.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Every quarter, we ship the garbage we collect from Utila to a processing facility on the mainland, where it is transformed into an alternative form of fuel. This process keeps the waste out of Utila’s already-stressed dump and, most importantly, helps prevent it from returning to the ocean.

 <strong>Our Impact in 2026</strong>
</div>
<div>
 So far this year, our volunteers have made an incredible difference:
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<ul>
 <li>8,729.44 lbs (3,959.61 kg) of garbage collected</li>
 <li>26,481 plastic bottles removed from our shores</li>
 <li>4,014.54 lbs (1,824.79 kg) of garbage shipped off the island for processing</li>
</ul>
<div>
 And we’re not done yet.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 This work is only possible because of the incredible people who show up, get their hands dirty, donate, organize, transport, sort, store, and support us. Our organization operates 100% through volunteers, but keeping this operation running still comes with real costs.
