It’s a metaphor for what it’s like to be told you’re not the main act, or that you’re better off supporting someone else’s spotlight. Josie and Roxanne decide to prove otherwise, even if it’s weird, and uncomfortable. It’s about chasing your dreams, making people laugh, and doing it your way.

<div>For Circus Jerks, their comedy duo at the center of this film, we hope for Assistants Only to be a launch point: a chance to build a world of characters and stories, similar to the spirit of Portlandia, inspired by Christopher Guest movies, This is Spinal Tap, and more. These characters are heightened versions of ourselves: stubborn, weird, hopeful, and determined to prove people wrong.
