<div>Hello, my name is Jazz, and I am the proud mother of a beautiful 19-month-old little girl named Aadi Asé. She is our miracle, our heartbeat, and the brightest light in our lives. Her smile can warm even the heaviest day, her laugh is pure joy, and her spirit is stronger than words can ever capture. Yet behind her light is a battle no child should ever be asked to fight.

<div>Aadi has MEF2C Syndrome, an incredibly rare genetic disorder that only about 400 people in the entire world live with. As if that were not enough, she also has a second, equally rare immune disorder affecting fewer than 200 people. Together, these conditions steal so much from her. They take away her ability to develop like other children, her ability to eat without struggle, and even her peace, as she endures 30 to 50 seizures every single day.

<div>This past June, our world collapsed. Aadi was rushed to the hospital and ended up spending a month in the Pediatric ICU on life support. Her tiny body began to shut down. Her lungs, her kidneys, her heart, her liver. Even her skin started to fall away. She spent 3 weeks on dialysis while doctors did everything they could to keep her alive. As her mother, sitting at her bedside, watching the machines breathe for her, praying she would open her eyes again, I cannot put into words the heartbreak and fear I felt. No parent should ever wonder if their baby will take their next breath. But Aadi fought. Against every odd, she survived.

<div>Some of the best specialists in the world for MEF2C are at Weill Cornell in New York City. They are leading groundbreaking MEF2C clinical trials, and Aadi has been chosen to begin a year long trial this September! This opportunity could change the course of her life, but it requires us to relocate so she can receive the coordinated care and expertise she desperately needs. We have exhausted every local option. What she needs simply does not exist here.

Sus pulmones, sus riñones, su corazón, su hígado. Incluso su piel comenzó a desmoronarse. Pasó tres semanas en diálisis mientras los médicos hacían todo lo posible por mantenerla con vida. Mientras su madre, sentada a su lado, observaba cómo las máquinas respiraban por ella, rezando para que abriera los ojos de nuevo, no puedo expresar con palabras la angustia y el miedo que sentí. Ningún padre debería preguntarse si su bebé volverá a respirar. Pero Aadi luchó. Contra todo pronóstico, sobrevivió.
