Mi esposa Sharon, una mujer joven, llena de vida, amor y sueños, está enfrentando una dura batalla contra un carcinoma papilar de tiroides con extension ganglionar, un tipo de cáncer que ya ha afectado múltiples ganglios en el lado izquierdo del cuello, y donde también se ha identificado actividad sospechosa en el lado derecho y en la región traqueal, con nódulos que presentan características altamente sospechosas de malignidad, comprometiendo gravemente esa zona.

<div>Este avance ha comenzado a impactar directamente su calidad de vida: Sharon ha desarrollado una ronquera muy marcada, al punto de tener que forzar la voz constantemente para poder hablar, y en ocasiones llega a quedarse disfónica o casi sin voz. Esta afectación vocal es uno de los síntomas más preocupantes del avance tumoral en la zona traqueal y laríngea.

<div>Los estudios médicos recientes revelaron:


</div>


<div>•	Un nódulo maligno (clasificación Bethesda VI) con más de 95% de probabilidad de cáncer en el lóbulo izquierdo de la tiroides.


</div>


<div>•	Una lesión secundaria con atipia celular (Bethesda IV).


</div>


<div>•	Extension comprometida y confirmada de ganglios linfáticos cervicales izquierdos.


</div>


<div>•	Sospecha de afectación en ganglios del lado derecho y en la región traqueal, lo que no solo indica una posible extensión agresiva del cáncer, sino que podría derivar en complicaciones quirúrgicas severas: durante la extracción de estos ganglios, existe el riesgo de que Sharon requiera una traqueostomía e incluso pierda la voz de forma permanente.

<div>El tratamiento de Sharon requiere varias etapas complejas y de alto costo:


</div>


<div>1.	Tiroidectomía total (extirpación completa de la glándula tiroides), seguida de un vaciamiento linfático radical bilateral del cuello bajo anestesia general, para eliminar todos los ganglios afectados.


</div>


<div>2.	Terapia con yodo radiactivo, con posibilidad de requerir también radioterapia externa si persisten focos de la enfermedad.


</div>


<div>3.	Estudios genéticos específicos para detectar mutaciones como BRAF, que podrían cambiar el pronóstico y el tipo de tratamiento.


</div>


<div>4.	Terapia de reemplazo hormonal de por vida.


</div>


<div>5.	Seguimiento médico riguroso y continuo, que incluye:

<div>•	Tomografías computarizadas (TAC)


</div>


<div>•	Gammagrafías tiroideas


</div>


<div>•	Pruebas sanguíneas especializadas


</div>


<div>•	Y el estudio más costoso pero fundamental: PET-CT con FDG, indispensable para detectar cualquier foco oculto de cáncer en el cuerpo.

<div>A pesar de todos nuestros esfuerzos, nuestro seguro médico ha rechazado cubrir cualquier gasto relacionado con el cáncer de Sharon, dejándonos completamente desprotegidos en este momento tan difícil. <div><span>My wife Sharon, a young woman full of love, dreams, and life, is facing a harsh battle against papillary thyroid carcinoma with lymph node involvement. This type of cancer has already affected multiple lymph nodes on the left side of her neck, and recent studies reveal suspicious activity on the right side and in the tracheal region. The nodules found in these areas have highly suspicious malignant features and are severely compromising those critical structures.</span><br />

<div>This progression is already impacting her quality of life: Sharon has developed a severe hoarseness that forces her to strain her voice constantly just to speak. At times, she becomes dysphonic or nearly voiceless. This vocal issue is one of the most concerning symptoms of the tumor's advancement into the tracheal and laryngeal areas.

<div>Recent medical evaluations revealed:

<div>A malignant nodule (Bethesda category VI) with over 95% probability of cancer in the left lobe of the thyroid.

<div>Confirmed lymph node involvement on the left side of her neck.

<div>Suspicion of lymph node metastasis on the right side and in the tracheal region, indicating possible aggressive disease progression. This could lead to severe surgical complications, including the potential need for a tracheostomy or even permanent loss of her voice.

<div>Sharon’s treatment involves several complex and high-cost stages:

<div>Total thyroidectomy followed by radical bilateral neck dissection under general anesthesia to remove all affected lymph nodes.

<div>Radioactive iodine therapy, and possibly external beam radiation if any disease persists.

<div>Genetic testing to detect mutations like BRAF, which could change both the prognosis and treatment strategy.

<div>Lifetime hormone replacement therapy.


</div>

<div>Ongoing, rigorous follow-up, including:

<div>Despite all our efforts, our health insurance has denied coverage for all of Sharon’s cancer-related treatments, leaving us completely unprotected at this critical time. We've managed to cover the initial medical costs through great sacrifice, but what lies ahead is financially impossible without outside help.

<div>Beyond the medical aspects, we are a family. Sharon and I are parents to a beautiful 6-year-old girl, Sharlotte, who deeply depends on both her mom and dad. She may not fully understand what’s happening, but she feels every absence, every hospital visit, and every tear. Her smile is our greatest motivation. We are fighting so her mom can be there—healthy, strong, and present.
