<div>Hello everyone, my name is Josie, and I’m the oldest daughter of Liz and Scott Martin. Writing this is really hard, but I want to share what my mom is going through and ask for support as our family faces something incredibly difficult.

<div>Not long ago, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, specifically invasive ductal carcinoma that has spread to her lymph nodes, which means the cancer is moving beyond the original site. It’s been heartbreaking and terrifying to wrap our heads around this, as we have already lost my mom’s sister, my aunt Dorna, to breast cancer.

<div>My mom is one of the most loving and selfless people that I know. She’s always shown up for everyone else - for me, my siblings, my dad, her friends, and now she’s facing one of the biggest battles of her life.

<div>She’s starting a treatment plan that includes surgery and many out of town appointments. We’re still processing all of this, it feels like everything changed so fast but we’re also trying to take things one day at a time. I’m sharing this GoFundMe to ask for help covering the costs of medical treatment, lost income, travel, and basic household expenses. We have hopes that these funds will allow my dad to be with her every step of the way - driving her to treatments, taking care of her at home, and doing what he can to support her. Anything you’re able to give would make a difference and even just sharing this with others means so much.

<div>My parents have built a quiet and beautiful life in St. Maries, Idaho. They’re not the type to ask for help, but I know they’ve been the kind of people who quietly show up for others and now I’m hoping people can show up for them.
