<div>My name is Murali Avala, and I am reaching out to you from a hospital bed with a completely shattered heart. On Sunday, May 17, 2026, our family was struck by an unimaginable tragedy.

<div>While traveling to White Sands National Park, our vehicle was safely parked in the emergency lane with hazard lights on to switch drivers. Out of nowhere, a pickup truck violently crashed into us. Tragically, my beloved brother, Purna Gopi Avala, passed away at the scene.
</div>
<div>Hard Work &amp; Shattered Dreams.

<div>Purna came to the US in 2015 and went through a decade of immense sacrifice and struggle. He was incredibly hardworking and had finally reached a place where he could financially support our entire family. Our parents had just arrived from India three weeks ago, and we were actively planning Purna's marriage. In a single second, all of our dreams were destroyed. Purna was our sole financial provider.

<div>Severe Injuries &amp; Status
</div>
<div>While my parents and I survived, we are currently separated across different hospitals dealing with critical, life-altering injuries:

<div>* Father (Retired Military/Ambulance Driver): Suffered a neck fracture, cracked ribs, and severe facial injuries. He was airlifted to UNM Hospital in Albuquerque.
</div>
<div>* Mother: Suffered a fractured hand and facial bone fractures.
</div>
<div>* Myself (Murali): Just graduated with my Master's. I am recovering from major surgery for severe internal bleeding, chest, back, and leg injuries.
</div>
