<div>Help bring clean, safe water to Tabanca Dana, a rural village of about 200 people in Guinea-Bissau. This fundraiser supports the construction of three new wells for the community.

<div>My name is Dana Redford, and I'm the founder of PEEP, a Lisbon-based NGO for Development. My family has been connected to Tabanca Dana for several years, and this project has become something personal — my own children have visited the village, and now they're helping raise funds for it, one conversation at a time.

<div>Guinea-Bissau has faced turbulent times in recent years. However, beyond the political instability, everyday families continue to work, farm, teach, and raise their children — often without reliable access to clean water. This campaign is about people-to-people sharing: our family and friends here supporting families in Tabanca Dana.

<div><strong>Who Is Behind the Project?</strong>
</div>
<div>This initiative is led by PEEP–Educar para Empreender, a Lisbon-based NGO for Development with 16 years of experience in education, entrepreneurship, and community-led development. PEEP is officially accredited by the Portuguese Foreign Office (Camões I.P.), and works across Lusophone Africa.

<div>The technical implementation is carried out by the Portuguese NGO TESE–Associação para o Desenvolvimento, a trusted partner active on the ground in Guinea-Bissau.

<div><strong>Why This Matters</strong>
</div>
<div>In Tabanca Dana, existing water sources are shallow and vulnerable:

<div>During the rainy season, wells flood with unsafe water;
</div>
<div>In the dry season, hand pumps often break or dry out;
</div>
<div>Some families walk long distances to collect water, which is not always clean.
</div>

</div>
<div>Despite this, the community is organized and engaged. Local leaders, youth, and elders have worked together to plan the project and select the well sites.
</div>

<div><strong>Construction Update</strong>
</div>
<div>Work is now underway. Water has been found in two of the boreholes, the concrete rings are complete, and the well covers are in progress. We'll keep sharing photos and updates from the field as construction continues.

<div><strong>What We're Asking</strong>
</div>
<div>We're raising €5,000 for Phase 1, which will cover all materials and labor for well construction. If we exceed our goal, Phase 2 will support sanitation infrastructure (latrines and basic wastewater treatment). The project includes local supervision, monitoring, and maintenance follow-up.

<div><strong>Porque É Que Isto É Importante</strong>
</div>
<div>Em Tabanca Dana, as fontes de água existentes são pouco profundas e vulneráveis:

<div>Na época das chuvas, os poços inundam com água imprópria para consumo;
</div>
<div>Na época seca, as bombas manuais avariam-se ou secam com frequência;
</div>
<div>Algumas famílias percorrem longas distâncias para recolher água — nem sempre limpa.

<div>Apesar disto, a comunidade está organizada e empenhada. Líderes locais, jovens e mais velhos trabalharam em conjunto para planear o projeto e escolher os locais dos poços.

<div><strong>Ponto de Situação da Obra</strong>
</div>
<div>As obras já estão em curso. Foi encontrada água em dois dos furos, os anéis de betão estão concluídos, e as tampas dos poços estão em fase de acabamento. Continuaremos a partilhar fotografias e atualizações do terreno à medida que a construção avança.

</div>
<div>Estamos a angariar €5.000 para a Fase 1, que cobrirá todos os materiais e mão de obra para a construção dos poços. Se ultrapassarmos o objetivo, a Fase 2 apoiará infraestruturas de saneamento (latrinas e tratamento básico de águas residuais). O projeto inclui supervisão local, monitorização e acompanhamento de manutenção.
