<div>It is with broken hearts that we share a devastating update. Aunt Barb’s family has had to make the most difficult decision anyone could ever face — to begin saying goodbye to their beloved mother.

<div>At just 69 years old, Aunt Barb was a vibrant, healthy woman who had so much life left to live. But that future was stolen from her after a brutal and vicious attack by a 48-year-old man, which left her with traumatic brain injuries too severe to recover from. Though her heart continues to beat strong, the damage to her brain is irreversible.

<div>This tragedy has left her family shattered. They have now begun the process of saying their final goodbyes and are facing the unimaginable task of planning a funeral — something they never expected to do under such horrific circumstances.

<div>We want to take a moment to update everyone on Barb's condition following her emergency surgery. After the traumatic attack, she suffered multiple strokes, causing severe swelling and bleeding on her brain. Thanks to the quick and skillful intervention of her medical team, she underwent an emergency surgery to relieve the pressure and stabilize her condition.

<div>We are relieved to share that she successfully made it through the surgery, but she is still in a coma, and her recovery will be a long and uncertain journey. The next few days, and possibly weeks, will be critical as doctors continue to monitor her closely.

<div>My name is Heather and I never thought I’d be writing something like this, but my family needs help.

<div>My aunt Barb, a 69 yr old Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt, a kind and loving woman who brings light to everyone around her, was brutally attacked and is now in a medically induced coma. The attack was sudden, senseless, and has left her fighting for her life in the ICU. After her heart stopped once, they were thankfully able to bring her back to us.

<div>Doctors are doing everything they can, but her road to recovery will be long and incredibly difficult. Our family is reeling — emotionally, mentally, and financially. As you can imagine there are many costs ahead: surgeries, rehabilitation, trauma care, and the support she’ll need to heal once she wakes up. This will be a very long recovery process for her.
