</div>
<div>Hi, my name is Tobias. I am 32 years old and from Germany, and I am fighting for my life. For the past several years, I have been completely bedridden, unable to sit up or even speak above a whisper. My world has shrunk to a dark, silent room because my body can no longer tolerate any light, sound, or touch without unbearable pain and neurological crashes. I am writing to you from this bed in the hopes that you might help save my life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My nightmare began over fifteen years ago with mysterious symptoms that doctors could not explain. Only recently have I finally been correctly diagnosed with a cascade of serious illnesses: very severe Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), mitochondrial dysfunction, gastroparesis, and other related conditions. Each one is devastating on its own; together, they have completely wrecked my body and my life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In plain terms, I live in constant, unimaginable pain. My muscles are so weak that I cannot hold my own head up. I could not swallow any food or water for over a year and had to be fed directly into my veins to stay alive.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I require round the clock care. Someone must always be by my side to help me with every basic need, from feeding and bathing to turning me in bed so I do not get bedsores. I am so sensitive that even a whisper or a ray of light can send my nervous system into a tailspin, causing crashes that resemble seizures and leave me even more broken. This is what very severe ME/CFS means for me. It is a living hell that I would not wish on anyone.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Remarkably, I spent more than fifteen years fighting these illnesses without a correct diagnosis. I pushed myself through school and university in constant pain, determined not to let my dreams slip away. I built a successful career at a top financial firm and even started my own company that mostly employed people with disabilities, trying to give opportunities to others even as I quietly battled my own worsening health.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>For years I forced myself to keep going, smiling through unimaginable pain and exhaustion. I did all of this without proper treatment because doctors could not figure out what was wrong with me. But in 2021, my body finally collapsed. My condition rapidly deteriorated to the point where I could no longer work or care for myself at all.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Today, I am fully bedridden and dependent on others for survival. The worst part is that our healthcare system provides almost no support for someone in my condition. In Germany, I have found that the critical treatments and care I need to stay alive are simply not covered by insurance. My illnesses are so complex and severe that I have fallen through every crack in the system.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Everything from my medications, special nutrition, and medical treatments to basic caregiving and medical supplies has to be paid for out of pocket. I have carried this burden alone for as long as I could. For a long time, I paid for immunoglobulin therapy (SCIG) myself because it was the only thing that gave me some stability. But the monthly cost of over €5,000 has become impossible to shoulder on my own. I have reached the limit of what I can sustain.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am now at a crossroads I never imagined I would face at 32. My suffering has become so unbearable and my options so limited that I have been approved for assisted suicide in my country. In other words, doctors have acknowledged that my situation is “hopeless” enough to qualify me for ending my life. But I do not want to die. I have fought for so long, and I still hold a glimmer of hope that I can improve or at least stabilize. I am not done fighting, but I truly cannot do it without help.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This GoFundMe is quite literally my last hope. The funds I am asking for will go directly toward keeping me alive. They will cover:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li>Resuming SCIG therapy (over €5,000 per month) to stabilize my immune system
</li>
<li>Life saving medications to keep my heart beating and allergic reactions under control
</li>
<li>24/7 professional caregiving to assist me with every basic need, day and night
</li>
<li>Specialized nutrition and medical supplies to keep me nourished and safe
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every single euro will make a difference and bring me one step closer to stability, to a life with a little less agony and a little more hope.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I know that times are tough for everyone, and asking for help is very hard for me. But if you have read this far, you have already given me something invaluable: hope. Knowing that someone out there cares enough to listen to my story gives me strength to keep going. If you can contribute anything at all, even the smallest amount, or simply share this fundraiser with others, you could literally help save my life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am deeply grateful for any support, whether it is a donation or just spreading the word. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read my story and for caring. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to me. With your help, I hope to turn this nightmare into a story of survival.

<div><strong><em>DEUTSCHE VERSION</em></strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>⸻
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li>Sehr schweres ME/CFS (Myalgische Enzephalomyelitis)
</li>
<li>MCAS (Mastzellaktivierungssyndrom)
</li>
<li>POTS (Posturales Tachykardiesyndrom)
</li>
<li>Mitochondriale Dysfunktion
</li>
<li>Gastroparese
</li>
<li>Weitere komplexe Begleiterkrankungen
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>⸻
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>⸻
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>So sieht sehr schweres ME/CFS aus.
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>⸻
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Trotz allem habe ich viele Jahre lang durchgehalten.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ich wollte unabhängig bleiben, etwas Sinnvolles schaffen – trotz allem.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>⸻
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Das Gesundheitssystem lässt mich im Stich.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Alles – Medikamente, Spezialnahrung, Infusionen, medizinische Hilfsmittel, tägliche Pflege, Arztbesuche – muss ich selbst bezahlen.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>⸻
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Aber ich will nicht sterben. Ich habe so viele Jahre gekämpft. Und ich habe noch Hoffnung. Vielleicht gelingt es, meine Situation zu stabilisieren. Vielleicht sogar ein wenig zu verbessern. Aber alleine schaffe ich es nicht.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>⸻
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Diese GoFundMe-Kampagne ist meine letzte Hoffnung.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Die Spenden fließen direkt in lebensnotwendige Versorgung, unter anderem:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
</li>
</li>
</li>
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>⸻
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>⸻
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ich danke dir von Herzen.
</div>
<div>Für jede Unterstützung.
</div>
<div>Für jedes Teilen.
</div>
<div>Für jedes liebe Wort.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
