<div>Our beloved dog Dubh suddenly became paralysed and was rushed for emergency treatment. A CT scan revealed a severe grade 5 spinal lesion — a herniated disc affecting four vertebrae.

<div>He needed urgent life-saving surgery (£4,000). Vets told us that blood was tracking along his spinal cord, and if it had reached his diaphragm, he would have stopped breathing.

<div>The surgery saved him, but he is still hospitalised and paralysed, and needs ongoing care to have any chance of recovery.
