<div>For 23 years, Rick has run a local landscaping business. But his work goes far beyond trimming hedges or mowing lawns. Rick has a heart for people — especially those who are struggling. He regularly employs individuals experiencing homelessness, giving them a chance to earn, to rebuild, and to feel seen. He also steps up for senior citizens who can’t care for their yards, often helping them free of charge, simply because it’s the right thing to do.

<div>Years ago, Rick’s life changed in an instant. While helping two women stranded on the side of the road with a broken-down car, Rick was struck by another vehicle. The accident was devastating — and he ultimately lost his leg. Thanks to the expert care at MUSC and his own incredible resilience, Rick now wears a prosthetic leg and continues to work hard every single day.
