<div>On August 23 my niece Brittany's husband Rich was sent to Hines VA hospital

<div>They diagnosed him with low blood pressure, a ruptured spleen, 3 broken ribs and bleeding into his liver and stomach.
</div>

<div>The VA then transferred him to Stroger Trauma where they did surgery to repair the spleen and stop the bleeding.
</div>
<div>He was sent home on Friday but knew something wasn’t right so the following Tuesday (9/2) he went back to Hines and they readmitted him.
</div>
<div>They watched all his levels and tried to find answers to why he was in so much pain.
</div>
<div>Rich was then discharged and was at home healing and feeling much better until 9/11 when he and Brittany went for lunch. Rich suddenly started slurring his words and wanted to leave.
</div>
<div>911 was called and Rich was transported to the hospital where it was confirmed he had a massive stroke.
</div>
<div>Along with the stroke Rich was unable to speak or communicate as if he lost all memory.
</div>
<div>He knows there’s a connection but doesn’t know names or places. It was discovered also he was bleeding in his spleen again.
</div>
<div>As of today 9/12
</div>
<div>If he knows something he’ll make noises to try to make you understand or will spell it out
</div>
<div>Rich and Brittany could really use some support as this is going to be a long road to recovery.
</div>
<div>They are currently waiting to hear if Rich will need surgery or a procedure done for the clot.
</div>
<div>Any and all money raised will help ease some of the financial burden this has placed on both of them.
</div>
<div>Rich will be out of work for a while longer than expected.
</div>
