<div>On October 13, 2025, our dad, Panomphet “Billy” Sangvone, was suddenly detained by ICE and deported to Laos, a country he has not seen since he was three years old.

<div>He was taken from his wife, his children, and his grandchildren—the life he has built in the United States for nearly five decades. His immigration case is based on a single, non-violent conviction from nearly 20 years ago. Since then, he has lived responsibly, raised a family, worked steadily, and contributed positively to his community.

<div>The way he was removed was terrifying. He was surrounded and taken away as if he were a dangerous criminal—not a devoted father, husband, and grandfather who has lived peacefully and contributed to his community for 46 years.

<div>He came to the United States legally in 1979 as a refugee and became a lawful permanent resident soon after. He grew up here. He raised his family here. Everything he knows—his work, his faith, his community, and his children—is here.

<div>To us, he is the steady center of our family. He is a father of five, a proud grandfather of two (with another on the way), and someone we have always depended on. Watching him be taken so suddenly has left a deep and lasting wound in our lives.

<div>He is compassionate, dependable, intelligent, funny, and deeply selfless. He has spent his life caring for others, often quietly and without recognition.
