<div>Natalia es mi hermana, y madre de mis 2 bellos sobrinos. Entrenadora de basket en un colegio, apasionada por el deporte, gran restauradora de cuadros y, por encima de todo, una mujer fuerte, incansable y luchadora. Hace un tiempo le descubrieron unas células cancerígenas en su cabeza, y gracias a una magnífica operación quirúrgica se pudieron retirar aparentemente en su totalidad, lo que le permitió seguir con su vida. Hace unas semanas, luego de sus revisiones habituales postoperatorias, hicieron su aparición otras de estas células, pero esta vez ya se encuentran en una zona muy complicada para intervenir. Por lo que la sugerencia de los doctores fue la de seguir un tratamiento moderno con un fármaco llamado Nivolumab que debe ser administrado como vacuna 1 vez al mes durante 12 meses. Ante la imposibilidad de asumir el elevado costo de las vacunas a través del sistema de salud peruano, Natalia viajó hace un mes a España para realizarse ahí el tratamiento ya que todo sería más económico debido al funcionamiento del sistema de salud aquí. El resultado fue positivo y mi hermana ya recibió la primera vacuna y ha regresado a Perú para continuar con su trabajo y sus actividades habituales. El proceso que le toca ahora es venir 1 vez cada 4 semanas a España para recibir la siguiente vacuna, luego volver a Perú y regresar al mes siguiente para la próxima inyección. Estos viajes demandan un precio que si bien es exhorbitantemente menor al que hubiera tenido que pagar si hacía el tratamiento en Perú, sigue siendo imposible de asumir. Es por ello que recurrimos a este medio y a la caridad de quienes la puedan apoyar.

<div>Mi papá fue una persona que siempre nos educó en valores de respeto, empatía, y sobre todo humildad. Cuando él estuvo en sus momentos más difíciles antes de morir, jamás quiso pedirle nada a nadie, su orgullo no se lo permitía. Es quizás por ello que a nosotros también nos costó un poco tomar la decisión de buscar apoyo por estos medios. Pero tenemos que hacerlo, la situación es muy complicada. Leer sobre tantos casos de gente que ha recibido la colaboración empática de tanta gente desinteresada, no ha hecho más que fortalecer nuestra esperanza en la gente. Cualquier tipo de ayuda será para nosotros un enorme alivio. Que lindo sería no tener que llegar a esta situación, que de verdad los sistemas sanitarios puedan cubrir estos medicamentos, pero la realidad de muchísimas familias en el mundo es otra. When he was going through his most difficult moments before he passed away, he never wanted to ask anything from anyone; his pride wouldn't allow it.
