<div>10 years ago, after a long fight with the US healthcare system, my mother Michelle was diagnosed with CIDP (chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy). Her immune system attacks her peripheral nerves, similar multiple sclerosis. Due to the time it took to get diagnosed and a begin treatment, she has permanent nerve damage. She deals with debilitating weakness and pain 24 hours a day.

<div>Weekly subcutaneous immunoglobulin treatments has been successful in keeping her from getting worse, but it hasn't brought her closer to remission nor has it relieved her suffering. There is the constant worry that it may affect her ability to breathe and walk. Our hope is that stem cell therapy may help, as it has <a href="https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11830822/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">shown promise</a> with cases like hers. I sincerely hope she can have a success story like <a href="https://www.frc.org/get.cfm?i=WL14I05#gsc.tab=0" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">others have had</a> .
