<div>This summer Isla has been fighting a horrible skin infection. It started off as a small cut and it’s now life threatening. She’s been to several vet appointments and we’ve tried just about every medication possible, but unfortunately she’s fighting two extremely antibiotic resistant bacterias. Since she has pre existing skin sensitives her immune system is really struggling to keep up. The infection has eaten away at her hind leg and belly and starting Saturday morning she took a turn for the worse. Isla spiked a fever Saturday morning along with very fast swelling around her front right leg and chest. The pain is awful but she’s trying her best to pull through. We’ve been in and out of tufts hospital all weekend and Sunday afternoon she was admitted for urgent hospitalization.

<div>She’s going to need lots of diagnostics and consultations with specialists, and it’s looking like surgery is going to be the best option. My heart is broken leaving her at the hospital but I know this is her best chance to beat this infection.

<div>tufts alone and it’s sure to climb with the addition of surgery on the docket. I know everyone is financially strapped right now but even $1 would mean the world to me. Isla is one of my absolute best friends and I would be devastated if finances became the reason she couldn’t beat this.

<div>Isla was the most challenging foster I’ve ever had. She was a feral Texas street dog; she had horrible demodex mange, heartworm, pellets from being shot, and large mammary tumors. On top of all of her physical issues, she was used to living on the streets and she had no idea how to be a family dog. I often thought, “what did I get myself into” . She was never the dog I thought I’d adopt, but after more than a year she really shined and I couldn’t imagine life without her. She was the first foster I ever decided to keep, and seven years later I couldn’t imagine life without her.
