<div>Mein Name ist Dilan, ich bin 23 Jahre alt, und ich befinde mich momentan in einer besonders herausfordernden Phase meines Lebens. Ich befinde mich mitten in meiner Transition und kämpfe jeden Tag darum, mein wahres Selbst nach außen zeigen zu können. Doch der Weg dorthin ist nicht leicht. Die geschlechtsangleichenden Maßnahmen, die für mich essentiell sind, um mich in meinem Körper wohlzufühlen, liegen leider außerhalb meiner finanziellen Reichweite, wobei ich schon 2 Jobs habe (einerseits als Make-up Artist und andererseits im Supermarkt).

<div>Jeden Morgen fällt es mir schwer, in den Spiegel zu blicken, weil mein äußeres Erscheinungsbild noch nicht mit dem übereinstimmt, wie ich mich innerlich fühle. Dieser tägliche innere Konflikt belastet meine mentale Gesundheit stark. Die medizinischen Eingriffe, die ich benötige, sind nicht nur kosmetischer Natur – sie sind entscheidend für mein emotionales Wohlbefinden und für meine Fähigkeit, ein erfülltes und authentisches Leben zu führen.

<div>Mein wahres Ich wurde in meiner streng religiösen, konservativen und kurdischen Kultur nicht akzeptiert, was zu vielen Konflikten führte bis hin zu physischer &amp; psychischer Gewalt.

<div>Mit 17 begann ich eine Ausbildung im Verkauf, wusste aber bereits, dass ich nach dem Abschluss mein Elternhaus verlassen würde. Die jahrelange Unterdrückung meines Ichs und die psychische Belastung führten dazu, dass ich während der Ausbildung psychisch zusammenbrach. Glücklicherweise bemerkte mein Ausbilder meinen Zustand und schaltete einen Sozialarbeiter ein.

<div>Nach jahrelanger Beratung habe ich es mithilfe meiner Beratungsstelle Hennamond in Köln geschafft, von zu Hause zu fliehen. Am 11. Januar 2021 bin ich morgens um 4:00 Uhr aufgestanden und habe versucht so viel Kleidung wie möglich an mir zu tragen, habe meine wichtigsten Dokumente in die Hand genommen und bin aus der Haustür herausgelaufen.

<div>Angekommen in Berlin, in meiner lang ersehnten Freiheit, habe ich mit der Zeit gemerkt, dass ich a) unendlich dankbar und glücklich bin, endlich die Person zu sein, die ich schon immer sein wollte, jedoch b) habe ich auch realisiert, dass die Person, die meine Eltern und meine Familie mir mein Leben lang aufgezwungen hat, nie ich selbst war. Tag für Tag habe ich vermehrt realisiert, dass das, was ich im Spiegel sehe, mich immer mehr zerstört. Beispielsweise habe ich immer einen Bart getragen, weil es einerseits von mir erwartet wurde, jedoch andererseits auch immer eine „Maske“ war, hinter der ich mein wahres Ich verstecken konnte und damit Sicherheit fand. Jeder einzelne Tag, u.a weil ich nicht herausgehen möchte, Angst habe, dass Menschen mich zu lange angucken, Angst dass ich nicht „weiblich genug“ aussehe und mich meine Dysphorie letztlich zuhause einsperrt.

<div>Eine Dysphorie, die mir täglich das Gefühl gibt, nie schön genug zu sein und niemals da anzukommen, wo ich möchte - nämlich ein glückliches Leben in meinem wahren ich.
</div>
<div>Eine Dysphorie, die mich dazu bringt, meinen Körper permanent zu verachten.

<div>Support for My Transition: A Step Towards My True self

But the journey is far from easy. The gender-affirming procedures that are crucial for me to feel at home in my body are financially out of reach, even as I juggle two jobs—as a makeup artist and at a supermarket.

<div>Every morning, looking in the mirror is hard because my outward appearance doesn’t yet match how I feel inside. This daily internal struggle weighs heavily on my mental health. These medical procedures are not just cosmetic; they are vital to my emotional well-being and my ability to live a fulfilling, authentic life.

<div>My true self was never accepted in my strictly religious, conservative Kurdish culture, which led to conflict, and even physical and emotional harm.

<div>At 17, I started vocational training in sales, already knowing I would leave my family once it was over. Years of suppressing my identity took a toll, and during my training, I broke down. Fortunately, my trainer noticed and connected me with a social worker.

<div>After years of counseling, I managed to escape home with help from my support center, Hennamond, in Cologne. On January 11, 2021, I packed up, dressed in as many layers as possible, grabbed my essential documents, and walked out the door.
</div>

<div>Arriving in Berlin, I finally felt the freedom I’d longed for. I’m incredibly grateful to be who I’ve always wanted to be, but I’ve also realized that the person my family forced me to be was never truly me. Seeing my reflection each day has become increasingly painful. For example, I always wore a beard because it was expected and it served as a “mask” to hide my true self, giving me a sense of safety. Now, every day brings fears about looking “feminine enough,” and dysphoria often keeps me at home, fearing others’ judgment.

<div>This dysphoria makes me feel like I’ll never be beautiful enough or fully reach happiness as my true self. It causes me to resent my body deeply.
