<div>Imagine someone telling you you only had one year left with your children, your husband, your family, your loved ones. What would be the first thing you would do?

<div>For Lyndsey this has become her reality. Lyndsey was diagnosed in January with a very rare cervical cancer, they promptly started treatments and everyone was hopeful. September was supposed to be an appointment to tell them that the 58 hours (3 days) of continuous internal radiation (brachytherapy), the 25 doses of additional radiation, as well as the chemo once a week for 5 weeks, was successful, but instead they have been met with the news that the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes and there is no longer a treatment that is expected to cure her rather all they can do is try to buy her more time. Oh and did I mention that Lyndsey is only 39yrs old!!!!

<div>Lyndsey is the mom to 2 kids under the age of 6, so you can imagine The very first order of business once she received this news last week was to book a family trip to Disney, a trip they have been saving for when the kids are older, a trip they thought they had a lifetime to make a reality. A trip filled with so many emotions, grief, happiness, sadness , magic, sometimes all those emotions at once!

<div>Lyndsey will now need to exist in a space between grief, sadness, pain and trying to keep life “normal” for her kids. A place where she fights for her life while also trying to make lasting memories with her kids and husband.

<div>She shared the other day that her kids likely think she’s crazy because at bedtime now she is the one with the endless stories and questions, she just wants to squeeze out all the extra minutes she can with them, who needs sleep anyways…..

<div>Lyndsey is not only a mom though, she is also a wife, a daughter, a sister, and an amazing friend, And the people that love her are not ready to lose her so it’s a good thing she is also a fighter!!

<div>Lyndsey plans on putting up a good fight!!! Once the family returns from Disney the very next day she will start a combo of immunotherapy and chemo. While the Cross Cancer does this treatment Lyndsey also has a consult with a private company in BC that will be able to run her RNA expression and the DNA of the tumor to find the specific drug that will be the most effective at fighting her specific cancer. Sadly testing like this is not covered by health care, even though it can mean the difference between successful and unsuccessful chemo, and this testing is expensive, it is $25,000. Once they have found the drugs that will give her the best chance at fighting this thing, the family will also have to pick up the bill of the drugs until they can provide proof that it is working.

<div>This decision comes with a heavy burden of feeling like she is taking finances away from her family….. finances they will need in the future.

<div>Tyler, Lyndsey’s husband and Dad to those kiddos, has such a tough journey ahead. And it’s not easy to ask for help.
