I'm a trans woman living in the Midwest seeking gender-affirming care to continue my transition. <strong>I am planning to get facial feminization surgery (FFS) in Chicago, but I'm in a tight spot financially.</strong> The surgery will cost more than anticipated because some procedures will not be covered by insurance, and my monthly wages have just decreased after AI took over a large part of my job. <strong>If I want to continue my transition, wrestle gender dysphoria into submission, and feel better about the person in the mirror, then maybe it's time to ask for help.</strong> Requesting financial assistance is something I <em>really </em>didn't want to have to do, but I'm putting that aside and admitting I could use a helping hand.
