<div>In December 2024, our mom, Jennifer (Susie) Burns, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. She is currently undergoing intense treatments, including both chemotherapy and radiation. She is in the thick of her battle right now. It has been an incredibly challenging time—physically, mentally, and emotionally.<br />

<div>Our mom has always put others first—sacrificing her time, energy, and resources to care for everyone around her. Now, it’s her turn to receive support, and she needs it more than ever. While she is the last person to ask for help, the reality is that the financial burden of this fight is overwhelming.

<div> It’s cruel to have to face the fight for your life while simultaneously worrying about the crushing weight of finances. Cancer is already an all-consuming battle—one that requires every ounce of strength, hope, and resilience. The constant concern about how to afford treatments, medications, and the everyday costs of living can take away from the mental and emotional space needed to focus on healing. No one should have to choose between getting the care they need and the peace of mind that comes with knowing their basic needs are covered. The struggle for survival shouldn’t be compounded by the constant fear of how to make ends meet. Yet, for many, it is. And for our mom, it’s just one more thing she has to endure on top of the immense challenges she’s already facing.

<div>Her insurance company recently denied coverage for a potentially life-saving medication—an injection that costs $1,000 per dose, with three doses needed. This is just one of the many obstacles she faces, and unfortunately, it’s becoming a more frequent issue as her treatment progresses.  She is unable to work, her basic living expenses are piling up, adding even more stress to an already overwhelming situation.<br />
