Asking for help doesn’t come naturally to me — in fact, I’ve done everything I can to avoid it — because I never want to feel like a burden on anyone else. But right now, <strong>I’ve reached a place where I can’t do this on my own.</strong>

<div>A few months ago, I was pulled from work by my doctor because of the direness of my health. This wasn’t my choice; it was a medical necessity so I could focus on treatment and recovery. I applied for short-term disability, but my claim was denied on the basis of a pre-existing condition. That denial has left me with no income at all.

<div>Since then, I’ve truly exhausted every option:

<div>• Cutting back on bills and every non-essential expense

<div>• Pawning and selling belongings

</div>

<div>• Taking on gig jobs where possible

<div>My family is helping as much as they’re able, but they can’t cover this urgent moment. The reality is that <strong>I owe $4,300 in rent.</strong> I’ve managed to pull together $1,900, but unless I can pay the rest, <strong>I am facing eviction on September 7th.</strong>
